Metro Transit revises Northstar schedule, adds Vikings train

Starting Monday, commuters will have a few more minutes to catch a Northstar train back home on weekday afternoons.

Metro Transit has decided to delay each departure time by five minutes for trains leaving downtown Minneapolis for the northwestern Twin Cities suburbs. The schedule change came about in talking to commuters during the first week of service who said they didn't have enough time to catch the train after leaving work, Metro Transit spokesman Bob Gibbons said.

"They were hurrying too much to get to the Target Field station for their homebound train," Gibbons said. "So the extra five minutes makes the connections more reliable to get people home after work.

Metro Transit is planning a special train on Sunday to take fans home from the Vikings-Bears game, which is slated for a later start time. The train will leave at 7:20 p.m. from the Target Field station, which should be enough time for fans leaving the game, Gibbons said.
