Radio Heartland Live Holiday Concerts
Radio Heartland celebrated the 2009 holiday season with the help of some friends. This year we recorded live holiday concerts from three local musical acts and presented them on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
First, our friends Neal and Leandra held their annual holiday show at the Cedar Cultural Center on Friday, December 11th in front of a sold-out house. Their show featured special guest Dan Schwartz and Radio Heartland also celebrated it's first anniversary at the Cedar that night.
Second, we recorded the Steele Family Singers' 25th anniversary show at the Fitzgerald Theater on December 5th. Fred, J.D., Jevetta, Jearlyn and Billy were joined by their mother, sister Janice and other family members on stage.
And finally, Peter Ostroushko's annual Heartland Holiday show also recorded at the Fitzgerald. Peter's guests were daughter Anna, singers Ruth MacKenzie and Natalie Nowitzki, and the Heartland Band with Dan Chouinard, Gordy Knutson, Dirk Freymuth and Joel Sayles. Local playwright and storyteller Kevin Kling also was featured.
