Attending Taste of Minnesota costs $20 this year

Organizers of the Taste of Minnesota festival on Wednesday announced a new marquee lineup for the festival's musical acts this year. But they're also tripling the price of gate admission for the prime time entertainment.

Headliners will include Sammy Hagar and Counting Crows, as well as a side stage highlighting folk and local artists from St. Paul's Red House Records. Lou Gramm, John Waite NeedToBreathe, Gin Blossoms, Pepper and 311 and The Offspring will also participate in the festival, which runs from July 2-5 on Harriet Island.

Admission to the evening shows will be $20 in advance and $30 the day of the shows. This year, there will also be fireworks only on one night: Sunday, July 4.

But organizers say the bigger musical acts and a new focus on food will make the higher ticket price worth it. New food sponsors, include Seven, Crave and Barrio.

"We're thrilled to be able to continue the legacy of the Taste, but also to raise the bar and bring it to a new level," said Andy Faris, co-owner and managing partner of Taste of Minnesota. "We think this year will be unlike anything other that's been put on before."
