St. Paul man sentenced in stabbing death
A 19-year-old St. Paul man has been sentenced to more than 34 years in prison for stabbing his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend to death last January.
The Ramsey County Attorney's office says Phillip Elphage was sentenced Friday.
Elphage pleaded guilty in May to second-degree murder and first-degree burglary.
According to the complaint, Elphage broke into his ex-girlfriend's home in St. Paul shortly after midnight on Jan. 30 and repeatedly stabbed 17-year-old Darius Maxwell.
Maxwell had identified himself to Elphage as the woman's new boyfriend.
