Threat for storms continues

The Tornado Watch issued earlier that included the Twin Cities metro area expired at 8PM CDT. The Storm Prediction Center holds a slight risk of severe storms over much of the state overnight.

As sunset approached the strongest storms were in west central Wisconsin, back through Hinckley and Brainerd, and in far southeast Minnesota.

More thunderstorms are likely overnight that could produce some gusty winds, small hail and very heavy localzed rainfall.

No relief from the very warm and humid conditions is seen until a cool front sweeps east on Friday night. A secondary cool front will usher in more refreshing air on Saturday.

So far this summer season the Twin Cities International Airport has seen the thermometer hit ninety degrees or better on thirteen days. We will take a couple more runs at ninety the next three days. Humidity? Count on it to continue through Friday.
