A censure of Mankato's mayor has fallen short.
The City Council voted 3-2 to ask Mayor John Brady to resign, but four votes were needed to pass the resolution.
Brady was arrested for drunken driving Aug. 21 in Golden Valley. Police say he had an open bottle of vodka in the vehicle and a blood alcohol concentration of more than three times the legal limit.
Brady says he has struggled with alcoholism and has a meeting Wednesday to determine the course of his treatment.

The Mankato Free Press says the resolution asking for Brady to step down wasn't binding. Only Brady can decide whether to resign.
