Sen. Franken unsure on Senate health care vote

DFL Senator Al Franken said he's not sure if the Senate will vote on the House bill repealing the new health care law.

But, he said he's ready to make arguments in favor of the law on the Senate floor. The House voted to repeal the law Wednesday, and now it's working on a scaled-back alternative.

House Republicans said the health care law is too expensive, and its original Congressional Budget Office (CBO) cost projections can't be trusted because Democrats gave it faulty numbers. Franken said that's not true.

"You don't do that," Franken said. "I mean you can't do that. CBO doesn't work that way. CBO has a responsibility of being objective. It's a non-partisan group that doesn't just take what the majority gives it."

Franken said the health care law isn't perfect, but it means more Americans have health coverage. He said he doesn't believe Republican claims that the law is keeping businesses from hiring workers.
