Jury finds Wally the Beer Man not guilty
A jury in Hennepin County has acquitted longtime, popular beer vendor "Wally the Beer Man" of selling alcohol to a minor.
The Pioneer Press reports the same jury that decided 76-year-old Walter McNeil was innocent, found his fellow vendor, 52-year-old Ed Stepnick guilty.
The two vendors were charged with selling alcohol to minors at Target Field on Sept. 30 before a Twins Game. The minors were a part of a police sting operation.
Both vendors turned down plea bargains of two years unsupervised probation and $500 fines. Together, they have 64 years of experience selling beer at Twins games. Stepnick was fined nearly $400 and banned from selling beer at Target Field.
