Scheid will cosponsor stadium bill, making it a bipartisan effort

The effort to build the Minnesota Vikings will be bipartisan in the state Senate. DFL Sen. Linda Scheid of Brooklyn Park says she's signed on as a sponsor for a yet-to-be-introduced stadium bill.

The cities vying to host the stadium include Brooklyn Park, although the likeliest site in that city lies just outside Scheid's district. She said she'd be happy to have a new stadium there, but she said that wasn't why she signed on to the bill.

"I signed on the stadium bill to build a new people's stadium, if you will, for the Minnesota Vikings ... I think, at the end of the day, we will do everything we can to keep the Vikings here, and pay for it in a reasonable, responsible way."

The bill will be sponsored by Republican Sen. Julie Rosen of Fairmont and Rep. Morrie Lanning of Moorhead. They said they expect to introduce a stadium bill this week, but haven't set a firm date.
