Voters in Washington County charged with election fraud

Officials in Washington County say they're charging 13 people with voting violations connected to last fall's elections.

Assistant County attorney Rick Hodsdon says the county has investigated about 200 cases of voting irregularities since 2008.

The 13 cases being pursued now all involve people who, "at the time they voted, were under felony sentence, either probation or parole, almost all of them under probationary sentences," said Hodsdon.

Prosecutors in Stillwater say none of the cases have gone to trial yet. About 145,000 people voted in Washington County in the November 2010 election.

Ramsey County officials say they've charged 72 people with voting violations since the 2008 election. In Hennepin County, nearly 50 people were charged with illegal voting in 2008.
