Budget talks continue, so does vow of silence

There's still no budget deal between DFL Gov. Mark Dayton and Republican legislative leaders, and that means the start of a state government shutdown is now less than 16 hours away.

The two sides held a series of closed-door meetings Wednesday that stretched into the night. But there's been little explanation of where the negotiations stand or whether an agreement is even within reach.

MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with reporter Tim Pugmire, who has been on budget stakeout duty.
