126 cars vandalized in south Minneapolis

Minneapolis police say they're looking for suspects in a vandalism spree that damaged dozens of cars in south Minneapolis over the weekend.

Police said the damage occurred in a 12 by 15 block area near the 38th Street Station on the Hiawatha light rail line. Minneapolis police spokesman Sgt. William Palmer says most of the damage was thought to have happened late Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

"You know, sometimes somebody will hit in the 30-40 range," he said. "But 126 is the most I can recall. That doesn't mean it's the most, but I can't recall that many."

Palmer said that police got at least one report that two men in a pickup truck may have been responsible for the vandalism, but he said investigators don't have any better description than that. He said police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the police.
