Three killed on Minnesota highways over weekend

It was a deadly weekend on Minnesota roads, with three people killed in crashes starting Friday evening.

The latest victim is a 77-year-old woman who was riding in a minivan about noon Sunday near Mountain Iron. She crossed Hwy 169 northbound and collided with a Chevy Blazer at County Road 109. Two other passengers and the driver of the van were injured. A woman and three children were injured in the other vehicle, but the State Patrol said none of the injuries were life-threatening.

About 30 miles north of that collision, an 81-year-old Illinois woman was killed when the car she was riding in crossed into oncoming traffic Saturday afternoon in Cook. The accident also left a woman from Cook in critical condition.

And on Friday evening, a 27-year-old Grand Forks woman died when the driver of the motorcycle she was riding lost control and crashed behind stopped traffic on eastbound Interstate 694 in Arden Hills during the evening rush hour.
