Duluth police shoot, kill suspected armed robber

Duluth Police say they shot and killed an armed robber on Sunday. They were trying to stop a stolen 2002 Infiniti when the driver sped away.

The car crashed into a nearby home, officers pursued the suspect on foot, and he opened fired on them. They returned fire and killed the suspect. A woman who lived in the home suffered a non life threatening gunshot wound.

Police spokesman Jim Hansen said Monday that the suspect was the same man believed to have robbed a Walgreens drug store in Duluth on Saturday night. Police said that he showed the pharmacist a gun, demanded pills and fled.

The robber is believed to have stolen the Infiniti at gunpoint a few blocks away. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the case, and Duluth police are expected to release more details about this incident this morning.
