Travelers at the Twin Cities airport can now use their smartphones to order food for delivery at departure gates.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner orders can be placed with three restaurants at the Minneapolis St Paul International Airport: French Meadow Bakery & Cafe, Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery and Chili's Too!
The service is available using the B4YOUBOARD mobile application for iPhones and phones using the Android operating system.
"Everyone seems to do all of their business now from the palm of their hand," Susan Goyette, spokeswoman for the company that runs the restaurants. "And as technology grows, I think you'll see people more and more enjoying the ability to order ahead and have the meal brought to them at the gate and then board the plane."
Travelers can order meals from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. The restaurants aim to make deliveries within 20 minutes after orders are placed. Customers can get refunds if orders arrive late or planes leave early. There's no surcharge for delivery orders. Tips are optional.
The application is available for free download at the Android Market and Apple's App Store. The B4YOUBOARD service is also available the JFK airport and will debut at Chicago's O'Hare airport this month.
