State Patrol: Pedestrian lays down on I-94 is struck and killed

Two lanes of eastbound Interstate 94 were shut down early Thursday morning just west of downtown Minneapolis as the State Patrol investigated an apparent death on the freeway.

The Patrol said that a pedestrian walked onto one of the eastbound lanes, layed down on the pavement, and was struck by multiple vehicles about 6:45 a.m.

The person died at the scene.

Authorities are now interviewing drivers at the scene. MnDOT traffic cameras showed what may be the body on the road, surrounded by emergency vehicles, and a long traffic backup.
