On this Martin Luther King Day, events and service projects are scheduled across the state. Penn State professor Kirt Wilson thinks that's a good thing, but he also says that to fully honor Dr. King, we need to move discussions about race beyond the simply ceremonial.
Wilson will speak Wednesday night at the College of St. Benedict. At Penn State, he teaches rhetorical studies and public discourse. Subjects he previously taught at the University of Minnesota.
