Snow brings almost 100 accidents on MN roads

Winter weather made for a slow commute Monday morning. Snowfalls ranged from less than an inch at the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport to 3 inches in Albert Lea and Zumbrota. St. Cloud got two inches of snow, as did Red Wing and River Falls. Lakeville and Fairmont reported an inch and a half of snow by sunup this morning.

The snow made for long delays on Twin Cities freeways for the rush hour with commutes as long as an hour between Woodbury and St. Paul.

The State Patrol reported nearly 100 crashes statewide, with 15 injuries, and 140 vehicles off state roads.

Metro Transit said that only about half of its 450 buses were running on time by the end of rush hour. Late routes were running about 9 minutes behind, on average.

The snow was expected is expected to move out of the region today, making for a better evening commute.
