Runway shutdown at airport after jet halts takeoff

One runway at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was shut down Monday afternoon after a corporate passenger jet aborted a takeoff.

"A Lear jet aborted take-off due to blown tire," said Patrick Hogan, airport spokesman. "The aircraft stopped slightly off the runway in the grass. The runway has been shut down but isn't causing any kind of delay."

The airport's two other runways remained open and were able to accommodate all arrivals and departures, Hogan said. There were two people on the Lear jet. Neither was injured. The plane is owned by Harbor Aviation of Sarasota, Fla. The FAA is investigating the incident.
