Summit Brewing is expanding with a $6 million addition to its production facility in 2014.
The brewer's current building in St. Paul, Minn., is nearing capacity as demand grows, said Carey Matthews, Summit marketing manager. The new space will be used for fermentation, storage and packaging.
"If you were to go into our cellar, you would see that there's no extra room to put the big, stainless steel tanks that reach a couple stories high," Matthews said. "In our packaging and warehousing area, we're running out of space."
Matthews says the company is considering using its hospitality area as a taproom, now that a 2011 state law allows breweries to sell pints to the public.
