Sen. Kathy Sheran proposes legislation to prevent future shutdowns

There are several bills sponsored by Republican lawmakers that would soften the blow of future state government shutdowns and they have been quietly moving through the legislature. Another hearing on them is scheduled for Tuesday morning in the state senate.

The bills would keep MnSCU schools, state parks, and the state zoo open and would continue road construction during a shutdown. Many state services, including the state parks were closed during last summer's partial government.

DFL Senator Kathy Sheran is planning to introduce a bill this week that looks at government shutdowns in a different light. Sen. Sheran talks with Cathy Wurzer about how she would like to prevent future government shutdowns.
