The Minnesota State high school boy's basketball tournament gets underway today at a couple of locations: the University of Minnesota and Target Center.

In the tournament's 100 year history, a lot has changed. But there are some things about the game that don't change, including the thrill a basketball player gets from something as simple as brand new sneakers.

Former TV anchor and reporter writes about getting a new pair of Converse Chuck Taylor All-Stars in his book "The Season Never Ends - Wins, Losses and the Wisdom of the Court." The book is a compilation of stories about his favorite sport: Basketball and life lessons learned on the court.

He spoke with MPR's Cathy Wurzer about the book.
