Wind as art, and perhaps a wet April in store for some

I spoke about wind as art on "Morning Edition" today. This was based on a merger of science and art that has been accomplished by Feranda Viegas and Martin Wattenberg at Hint.fm. They explore new ways to visualize different data sets. And using real-time data from National Digital Forecast Database, they show wind trajectory and speed (via streamlines) over the continental USA using a wind map.

Speaking of wind, the strong storm winds of last weekend (up to 60 mph gusts) ushered in some heavy precipitation (both snow and rain) reported by many weather observers. April is tracking to be wetter than normal for some Minnesota communities. Among those already close to or above normal April precipitation values are:
