Dozens of Minnesota Democrats boarded buses in St. Paul Tuesday morning to travel to Wisconsin and rally support for Tom Barrett today in that state's gubernatorial recall election.

DFL U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison, of Minneapolis, spoke at a rally at DFL headquarters before the buses left.

"Are you fired up and ready to go?" He asked the crowd. "Are you ready to make sure that we defeat Scott Walker today?" he said.

Participants said they planned to spend the day door-knocking in the Eau Claire area, hoping to boost Democratic turnout in favor of Barrett. He lost to Walker in Wisconsin's 2010 general election.

Walker has enjoyed a single-digit lead in recent opinion polls.
