The South Dakota health department is warning residents about the spread of the potentially fatal Hantavirus.
As fall temperatures drop, the carriers of the disease - mice - migrate indoors seeking food, warmth, and shelter. The majority of the reported infections have been traced back to the deer mice found at Yosemite National Park in California.
