A 37-year-old Maple Grove woman is facing felony child endangerment charges after authorities determined she'd been smoking heroin and marijuana with her 12-year-old daughter.

Rebecca Hill is being held at the Hennepin County jail on $100,000 bond. She was arrested Oct. 13 for allegedly shoplifting from Macy's at the Mall of America. Police turned her daughter over to her family, who soon discovered that the girl was going through apparent narcotics withdrawal.

"She admitted that she used heroin and has for several months with her, and she admitted that she provided heroin sometimes up to three times a day for the past several weeks," said Cmdr. Vic Poyer, with the Bloomington Police Department.

The girl was hospitalized at Amplatz Children's Hospital at the University of Minnesota for treatment of her withdrawal symptoms. Besides the child endangerment charges, Hill faces car theft and drug charges as well.
