GOP U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann has introduced legislation that would rename the Cold Spring Post Office after police officer Tommy Decker, who was killed in the line of duty.
The legislation, which was co-authored by every other member of Minnesota's U.S. House delegation, would rename the building the "Officer Tommy Decker Memorial Post Office."
"In honor of Officer Decker's service, I am proud to join with all of my Minnesota colleagues to introduce legislation to rename his hometown post office the "Officer Tommy Decker Memorial Post Office," Bachmann said during a speech on the House floor. "Though he is no longer with us, Officer Decker's example of unparalleled courage and compassion lives on."
Police investigators are still looking for Decker's killer. He was shot and killed on Nov. 29 behind a bowling alley and bar in Cold Spring. Authorities are offering a $100,000 reward to help generate tips that could help lead to the arrest of Decker's killer.
