Comcast customers must upgrade for digital TV signal

Comcast cable customers with both older TV sets and basic television service will need new equipment to continue to receive basic channels

The cable company is switching to an all-digital network, beginning next month. Customers will need digital adapters to covert the digital signal for older, CRT televisions. Customers with high definition digital TVs are not affected, company spokeswoman Mary Beth Schubert said.

"If you're a Comcast basic cable customer with a HDTV set, there's no action that needs to take place," Schubert said. "Those HD customers will continue to have access to all basic cable channels, including HD broadcast stations that are available on our lineup. Stick the cable in the back of the TV and you're good to go, just like today."

Customers with older TVs can get up to three adapters at no charge. Request adapters by calling Comcast or visiting the company's website.
