Driving is difficult this morning in southeastern Minnesota.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation reports difficult driving conditions in much of southeastern Minnesota including Interstates 90 and 35.
A weekend storm brought 6 to 8 inches of snow to north central Iowa, southeastern Minnesota and into north central Wisconsin. Forecasters say the snow is expected to continue through the morning with another 2 inches possible as the storm moves east.
Rain on Sunday also left a layer of ice under the snow in some areas.
Authorities have closed Minnesota Hwy. 16 between Rushford and Preston because of heavy snow and fallen trees. They've also posted a flood warning for Minnesota Hwy. 105 between Austin and the Iowa state line because of flooding on the Red Cedar River.
A winter storm warning will remain in effect for the area, from Mason City, through Rochester to Eau Claire, through mid morning.
Some school districts are delaying the start of classes Monday because of travel conditions, including Austin, Albert Lea, Caledonia and Goodhue.
