Same-sex couples can apply for marriage licenses in Hennepin, Ramsey and Washington counties starting Thursday.

The law legalizing same-sex marriage does not take effect until August 1, but a county can begin taking marriage applications as soon as a county is ready to do so.

MPR News reporter Sasha Aslanian joins The Daily Circuit live from Hennepin County's offices in downtown Minneapolis, along with Hennepin County Auditor Mark Chapin.
