Relief from Canada Friday; a chance of storms for Saturday; cooler
Friday began with areas of low clouds, patchy fog and lingering humidity, but Canadian air has been wafting in on a north wind. Afternoon temperatures across Minnesota have been mainly in the 70s to 80s. Dewpoints have dropped into the more comfortable 60s. Clouds have been breaking up to set the stage for a lovely evening.
Around the country there have been quite a few tunderstorms. Some have been across the Great lakes, more in the Southeast and lots in the West. Lightning helps us locate the active convection:
Canada gets some lightning, also, especially across the Prairie Provinces and in the Canadian Rockies. This is what has been going on this afternoon:
Minnesotans can look forward to comfortable late-summer temperatures this weekend. Expect highs from the low 80s to low 90s Saturday, mid 60s to mostly 70s on Sunday, and mid 60s to mid 70s on Monday.

Note those cooler temperatures tracking our way by Sunday. They will slide in behind a rather strong cold front that will cross Minnesota with a chance of thunderstorms on Saturday and into Saturday night.
Some storms could become severe mainly Saturday afternoon and evening.
Looking farther ahead, temperatures are likely to begin warming again on Tuesday, after Labor Day, but the humidity should remain tolerable.
At this time, the outlook for September is for the likelihood of rather normal temperatures in our part of the world.
