Many workers in International Falls focused on what comes after layoffs

The layoffs have begun in International Falls. By the end of Monday, 265 people will have lost their job at the massive Boise paper mill that for years has been the communities biggest employer. Boise is shutting down two of the plant's machines. It's a familiar story: midwestern town loses industrial jobs. But what makes International Falls stand out is it's isolation. Workers there cannot jus drive to the next town over to find work. MPR's Phil Picardi spoke with Paul Nevanen who directs the Economic Development Board in Koochaching County.
