Minneapolis group home damaged by fire

Minneapolis firefighters were called to the 2500 block of Portland Avenue just after 7 p.m. Thursday to find fire burning at the back of a two and a half story building.

Three people had to be rescued from the home. One of them was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with what fire officials described as non-life threatening injuries.

Fire department spokeswoman Cherie Penn said there may have been more than a dozen adults and four children living at the home. The Red Cross is providing assistance to the people forced out of the group home.
