Van crashes into Lowertown's Bulldog bar

Six people were hurt when a vehicle crashed into a St. Paul bar this morning.

The State Patrol says a trooper was responding to a traffic complaint and trying to pull over a Chrysler minivan when the driver fled on 6th Street in St. Paul's Lowertown neighborhood. The van struck the east side of the Bulldog, a bar at the corner of 6th and Wacouta.

The State Patrol said the 31-year-old Shoreview man driving the van was injured, as were five people outside the van, ranging in age from 21 to 29. The crash damaged the wall of the bar. The patrol said it wasn't clear if alcohol was involved.
