Farmington man dead after police pursuit
A 24-year-old Farmington man is dead after the vehicle he was driving hit a tree in Red Wing during a police pursuit.
The Minnesota State Patrol said Cody Swanson was driving an allegedly stolen vehicle on Cannon River Avenue, near U.S. Highway 61, when he hit the tree.
The accident happened around 4:30 a.m. Sunday.
The chase began in Farmington when police attempted to pull over Swanson's vehicle for a burned-out head light. Swanson fled and continued to Red Wing, covering 37 miles, Farmington police said.
Swanson was not wearing a seatbelt.
