Teen killed by gunfire in Minneapolis identified

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner said 17-year-old Nehemiah Steverson was the person police found dying of a gunshot early Sunday morning in north Minneapolis.

Polce say Steverson he was shot just before 2 a.m. near 16th Avenue North and Morgan Avenue North. Police found him next to the street, with a bullet wound in his abdomen. He was taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center where he died just before noon Sunday.

Steverson as a junior at Edison High School, where he played football and was a budding chef, according to Minneapolis Public Schools. The school district offered condolences to his family, friends and teachers.

Edison has made counseling available.
