I-35E, I-694 to close this weekend for road work

Interstate 35E in St. Paul will be closing this weekend to allow construction workers to work on two bridges.
Officials will shut down the freeway in both directions between Interstate 94 in downtown St. Paul and Highway 36 in Roseville. Workers will limit traffic to two lanes at 7 p.m. They will close ramps and close all but a single lane at 9 p.m. and close the road entirely at 10 p.m.
Crews are removing the Larpenteur Avenue bridge over the freeway. They are removing a Gateway Trail bridge.
The interstate is scheduled to reopen early Monday.
Larpenteur Avenue over I-35E will be closed through mid-July.
Workers also will close eastbound Interstate 694 in Brooklyn Center this weekend, starting at 8 p.m. today to perform work that is part of a $21 million resurfacing project. They will route traffic onto I-94.
I-694 also should reopen early Monday.
