Republican U.S. Senate hopeful Mike McFadden is out with a new television ad today that highlights his experience as a youth football coach in the Mendota Heights Youth Athletic Association.
In the ad, McFadden is shown on a football field, wearing a whistle around his neck and guiding young players through some plays and drills. Most of the lines are delivered by children. And one player delivers a low body blow near the end that causes McFadden’s voice to change.

Player B: “Now Coach McFadden is the one running."
Player C: “He says Washington is fumbling our future.”
Player B: “Spending has to be stopped.”
Player A: “And Obamacare needs to be sacked.”
McFadden is the GOP-endorsed candidate for U.S. Senate. He’ll face state Rep. Jim Abeler and others in the Aug. 12 Republican primary. The winner will face incumbent Democrat Al Franken in November.
Abeler announced today that former Republican Gov. Al Quie has endorsed his campaign.
"Jim has been a real leader on health care issues," Quie said in a news release.
