McCrae makes most of his shot at singing 'Rock Your Baby'

Today's music is from 40 years ago this week when "Rock Your Baby" sung by George McCrae was the No. 1 song on the U.S. pop charts.

It sold 11 million copies and is considered one of the first hits of the disco era. The song was written by Harry Wayne Casey and Richard Finch who would go on to write five number one songs for K.C. and the Sunshine Band.

On this song, K.C. wasn't able to hit the high notes, but George McCrae could. He happened to walk into the studio while they were working on it, so they gave him a shot at the vocal. It turned out to be his only hit record.
