Beatles song 'I'll Cry Instead' replaced in band's movie

Today's Morning Edition music is from the Beatles with "I'll Cry Instead" a track off the "A Hard Days Night" soundtrack.

The movie had it's U.S. premiere 50 years ago today. This song was written by John Lennon. His first wife Cynthia once said that it expressed John's frustration with losing the freedom and fun of the early days before the Beatles became big stars.

It was written for the scene in the movie where they are running around in a open field. In the end, the director decided to use "Can't Buy me Love" for that scene instead.
