Just two people watch first Ramones show at CBGB

Today's Morning Edition music is inspired by tomorrow's 40th anniversary of the day when the Ramones played their first show at CBGB's in New York.

The band had only been practicing together for a few months and they were still learning to play their instruments.

In an interview shortly before his death, guitarist Johnny Ramone said at the time they weren't skilled enough to play cover songs, so they had to write tunes they could actually play. He recalls that there were just two people at that first show at CBGB's.
