Three events scheduled on Monday are aimed at giving Johnson a lift in his race against Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton. Christie and Johnson were to appear at two closed-door fundraisers before holding a public event at a Twin Cities charter school.
Christie is chairman of the Republican Governors Association and is considered a potential presidential candidate in 2016. Neither the RGA nor the Democratic Governors Association has devoted much attention or money to Minnesota's campaign. Most polls show Dayton comfortably ahead.
Last week, former President Bill Clinton headlined a rally for Dayton and other Minnesota Democrats on November's ballot.
