Overnight fire closes Henry High School in Minneapolis

Classes are canceled Thursday at Patrick Henry High School in Minneapolis after an overnight fire damaged parts of the building.

Minneapolis Public Schools officials say no injuries were reported.

The Minneapolis Fire Department says it was called to a fire at a lab workstation in a chemistry classroom about 2:30 a.m. The department said the fire was contained to the classroom, although there was smoke and water on all the other floors of the building.

The district has canceled classes and encouraged students to check for assignments online. Staff have also been told to stay home.

Community Education classes, athletics events and all extracurricular activities are also canceled.

The cause of the fire is under investigation; all other Minneapolis schools are open.
