Tyus Jones, the Duke University basketball standout and former Apple Valley High School basketball star, will enter the NBA draft, Duke said Wednesday.

He's a point guard and a freshman at Duke. He was Minnesota's most heavily recruited high school basketball player in 2013 and the state's Mr. Basketball in 2014, an honor denoting the state's top basketball player.

Jones led the Duke Blue Devils to the NCAA men's basketball championship last week and was named the most outstanding player in the Final Four tournament. He was back in Minnesota this week for the home opener of the Minnesota Twins.

"He's projected to be a first round pick," Duke Coach Mike Krzyzewski said in a statement released by Duke Wednesday. "He's going to get a lot better, but people have already seen him and know how he handles himself, especially in pressure situations."
