Victim of Sunday shooting in Minneapolis identified

A man shot and killed in the Whittier neighborhood of Minneapolis early Sunday was identified Tuesday as Abdiaziz Salah Farah.

Farah, 27, died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to a report by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's office, which ruled the death a homicide.

Minneapolis police are investigating. No arrests have been made.

Police were called to a report of shots fired around 2 a.m. Sunday near Pillsbury Avenue South and Lake Street West.

There, they found Farah's body. According to a police spokesperson, officers talked with several people in the area and do not believe the crime was random.

Hassan Yusuf said Farah had worked as a truck driver and was a well-liked person at Karmel Square, the Somali shopping center.

Yusuf said Farah, with whom he was friends, was married with a 2-year-old daughter. His family had recently returned from a visit to Nairobi, Kenya, he said.
