This week on Art Hounds: "Made Here," Contempo Physical Dance and a drive into Wisconsin for the spring "Fresh Art" tour.

Robert Borman is looking forward to seeing Contempo Physical Dance's latest concert "Vulcão." Contempo blends Afro-Brazilian dance, capoeira and contemporary dance, and "Vulcão" — Portuguese for "volcano" — explores the powerful nature of relationships, both human and natural. Performances run May 29-31 at the Janet Wallace Main Stage Theater on the campus of Macalester College.

Now that spring is here, Tim Carroll is anxious to grab a map and go explore the latest edition of "Made Here," a sort of artist takeover of downtown Minneapolis. Using empty storefronts and other available spaces, Minnesota artists install everything from sculpture to theater to pop-up gardens. You can get a tour of the artwork from a guide, or pick up your own map at Hennepin Theatre Trust in the City Center building.

Lisa Pettigrew is already excited for the spring Fresh Art tour, which gets underway the first weekend in June. Located along the Lake Pepin and Chippewa River Valley areas of Wisconsin, this scenic drive connects you to the studios and galleries of painters, quilt makers, jewelers, weavers, iron artists and more. Pettigrew says it's an easy drive from the Twin Cities, and a great way to escape the city.
