Fargo police say at least two officers exchanged gunfire with an armed robbery suspect Thursday.
Police received the call to the Howard Johnson Inn around 2:20 p.m. Police chief David Todd said a white male fired one round from a handgun while demanding money.
The suspect didn't strike employees, Todd said. The man got the money and fled on foot.
Police encountered him at a nearby gas station.

"As the officers approached the suspect, the suspect fired several rounds from a handgun," Todd said. "The officers exchanged fire and it appears as though the suspect was hit by one of our officer's rounds."
It's not clear how many shots the officers fired. Todd said at least two officers will likely be placed on administrative leave.
The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation is handling the officer-involved shooting investigation.
The suspect is being treated at Sanford Medical Center.
