State Auditor Rebecca Otto is not giving up. She says she will continue to fight a measure that allows counties to bypass her office and hire private accountants.

That change could substantially reduce the auditor's influence.

Otto lost an ally in Gov. Mark Dayton on Monday when he dropped his fight against the change. But she says she's considering all options, including a challenge in court.

MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with Eric Magnuson, former chief justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court, about what constitutional grounds could exist for Otto's potential case.
