Forest Lake Police have detained a man after finding the body of a woman in an apartment the two apparently shared.
Police responded Friday evening to a report of a foul odor coming from the south end of an apartment building on the 900 block of Twelfth Street Southwest in Forest Lake, Minn.
They identified the source of the odor as an apartment on the second floor. Inside, police found the woman's body. The man in the apartment was detained. Police say both appeared to be in their early 30s.
The police department is being assisted by the Washington County Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Apprehension. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office is conducting an autopsy.
The police are treating the crime scene as a suspicious death and do not believe there is any danger to the public.
