3 shot, 1 killed in north Minneapolis shooting

Three people were injured and one was killed in a shooting early Saturday in north Minneapolis.

Minneapolis police responded to reports of a shooting at a home on the 1200 block of 22nd Avenue North. On their way, they received a report of man with a gunshot wound just a few blocks away from the house.

At the residence, they found three men with gunshot wounds. One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two men were taken to North Memorial Medical Center by ambulance with serious, but non-life threatening wounds.

Police learned that the wounded man a few blocks away had been present when the shooting occurred, and fled the home after being hit by gunfire. He was transported to North Memorial Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The police department's Fourth Precinct Inspector asked for more community engagement in the neighborhood, and said the department will be allocating patrol resources in an effort to prevent future violent crime in the area.
